US Traffic Information

My US Traffic Information uses the Yahoo! Traffic information API and Google maps to draw a map of traffic information for any location you specify. Simply enter your location (major city and state or zip code), then click on the markers for details.

Here are some Frequently Asked Questions:

  • Does you module provide traffic information for [insert your city here]?
The traffic information is provided by Yahoo! traffic. I don't control which cities are covered. Most large metropolitan areas are usually covered, though.
  • Why don't you provide traffic information for [insert your city here]?
    See above.
  • Why can't I find information about the accident at [insert location here]?
    See above.
  • When I click refresh, I don't get any new data. Why is that?
There are several possible reasons. First off, there is data caching happening along the way. Google caches some requests, my module caches some requests. This is to ensure that our servers don't get bogged down by someone constanly clicking the refresh button. Another reason could be that Yahoo! traffic hasn't been updated with any new information since the last refresh. Finally, maybe there's no new traffic information to report.
  • Why do you advertise on your traffic module, you money-grubbing #!@#!!$!?
I can't charge for the module directly as per Google guidelines. But, with over 2,500 current users, I have quite a nice web server bill these days. If the ads offset my costs a little bit, then I can continue to support this module. Hopefully the ads are relevant enough to be useful, also.
  • You're not a money-grubbing #!@#!!$!. Can I advertise on your module?
I'm not sure I'm going to continue the advertising program. It's mostly a test right now, but if you'd like to advertise and you have a traffic/automotive-related product or service, I'll consider it. Just email me.
