I am such a geek
There are a lot of days that I feel like Kip Dynamite. I just want to sing "I love technology. Not as much as you, you see. But I still love technology. Always and forever. Always and forever."
Yep there are just days when programming software is still so very cool to me. I start with nothing ... have an idea ... then BAM! (shout out to Emiril) and there's something. I don't build houses. I don't create physical stuff, but writing cool software is something similar. It lives between complex math and really incredible art. It's insanely creative and insanely structured at the same time and I love it!
Basically I'm a geek and I'm just letting you all know it.

ok, I'm not as much of a geek as you are, but I get what you mean about having an idea and seeing the software in use.
I write requirements for software developers and occasionally I get to design something that is my own idea. That's what I am working on right now at work. This project will save 16 training hours per person and cut 30 seconds off of talk time.
It is so cool. I've been working on it for a few weeks and we are having our first review of the requirements document tomorrow. I had a concept review last week with the users and I thought they were going to faint when they understood the full implications of the new design.
I love my job.
