A Million Bucks

If a million dollars fell into your lap right now, what luxury/toy would you buy? Notice how I framed the question. I didn't ask you to tell me about your charitable donations or paying off your debt or socking away some money for your kids' education. I'm curious about what fun thing you'd do?

Vacation? Car? Boat?

For me, today it would be this 70 inch SXRD HDTV from Sony.

Of course then I'd give some money to charity and sock some away for college. ;)

Go to MAUI!!!! And the Big Island, for several months, actually.

I'd ride a bike down Haleakala, hit Hilo Hattie and all the local shops for clothes, dishware, linens, etc...

And NOT worry about how much I was spending... ;-)

I might even buy a couple cars along the way...

I'd also do the charity, children's education/mission funds, and a year's supply of "every needful thing"... too.

If I were unable to be responsible (save for a rainy day, retirement, pay bils, etc.) and actually be compelled to spend the million dollars, kind of like in the movie Brewster's Millions (except I didn't have to spend it in a month), then I would probably travel extensively - and sample world cultures and cuisines. I would take my sweet time and be a nomad for the most part. Oh sure, if I found a neat toy, or curiosity I just had to acquire - then I would and send those items back home. But, I think I could exist for several years on a million dollars - maybe even a decade or longer and have the best time doing it!

I'd build a big multi family, multi generation house right here in Mesa and move my sister and her kids in with us. Something with separate wings for each family, but shared living spaces.

With a pool and a huge backyard. Outbuildings for my spinning & weaving stuff and the woodshop my son wants.

It would have enough room that any of my grandchildren or nieces/nephews could come spend the night and know that there was a special room for them.

Hmm... I'd probably get me a Bugatti Veyron, although that would eat up the entire million...
