The Agency Delta: Downloadable
I have received numerous requests for a downloadable copy of The Agency Delta, so I've finally gotten to it. You can download, print (optional) and read the PDF version of The Agency Delta by downloading this file.
You may be wondering what in the world I'm doing by giving away an electronic version of my novel. There's a big part of me that's wondering the same thing. However, this is a new world with new marketing rules and new distribution models. I don't pretend to understand them all, but I do know that all the old rules no longer apply. Getting a book published the traditional way is tough and with nearly 200,000 new titles last year alone, there's an overwhelming choice for the reader already. So, I'm making your choice easier by lowering the barriers to entry. My book is free.
I'm putting this full-length novel online and encouraging you to read it, send it to your friends, blog about it, distribute it on your blogs, etc. and we'll all see what happens. Maybe nothing. But maybe ... something. In fact after weighing the pros and cons of doing this, I can't find any actual downside.
I wrote The Agency Delta because I had a story. Now I want people to read it. I think it's a great story. Now tell me what you think.

I did the same thing... sort of... I turned my novel into a webcomic.

OK, I've just commented elsewhere about the PDF, and now you've done it: cool! The book still needs crisper 'selling', though! Best; AC

Blake is a talented and ethical individual. Creativity is hard to come by when it is combined with a desire to do right. I knew him very, very well years ago and he always chose to be ethical rather than convenient. I do love th at in author.

When I downloaded the PDF, I really did not know what the book is about. Since your web site is in "blog" format, you have to navigate around a few links to really learn more about the book. I had reached this site from Seth Godin's and had not really looked around, and simply downloaded the PDF.
Once I started reading the book, it was impossible to pause/stop. I had to keep reading until I reached the end :-) I really enjoyed it and wish you the best of luck in getting it published. More marketing needs to be done!

I think this will pay off for you. As Corey Doctorow says, an artists problem is not copyright, it's obscurity. He gives all of his books away fmor free at craphound.com and it's a wildly successful strategy for him (his first book is now in it's 6th printing).
Good luck with it.

I decided against this approach but instead offer sections of my novels to illustrate writing points and start discussions about technique. This can improve the work but also acts as a publicity channel. I'm not discounting offering the entire novel in the future, but I feel POD will be the favoured method in the future.
