Monday Movie Review

I actually went to see a movie this weekend. And I saw a movie on DVD that I have never seen before. It was a good weekend!

First off, I finally watched Fun With Dick and Jane from my Netflix.com queue. I didn't know anything about the movie going into it, so I had no preconceived expectations. Generally I'd say I'm a Jim Carrey fan, but I haven't liked everything he's done, so I never know for sure whether I'll like a film just because he's in it. This one was a nice surprise. If you're a member of Generation E, then you'll probably related to this movie. Depending on your situation, though, you may not find it particularly funny. I thought it went almost over the top (even for the story), but just when I was about to start relating it to I Love Lucy, the plot reigned itself back a bit. If you're going to watch this movie, don't miss the credits. That was one of the laugh-out-loud parts for me. I did a little contract work for Arthur Andersen a few years back, so it was particularly funny for me. 1.5π.

Secondly, I took the family to see RV with Robin Williams. Again, I never know what to expect with Robin Williams. This movie, though, was pretty much what I expected for a story, but much funnier and funner overall than I was expecting. There was a plot and story behind the madness and it was fun to watch with kids. I would recommend it for anyone looking for a movie in the next two weeks. After that there's going to be a lot of great summer movies that will overshadow it. 1.75π.

Lastly, I have to mention Mystery Men. This is a 1999 movie that is so quirky and funny I watch it over and over again. If you have never seen it, you should at least put it in your Netflix.com queue. It's a crazy movie about a group of superhero wannabees who accidentally force themselves into a situation that causes them to have to step up and save their city. It's weird, but I love it. 1.75π.

Comments

Mystery Men is my favorite comedy. Possibly funnier than Fletch!

I didn't care for Dick and Jane though.

Nice site.
